'Ugly' contest a beautiful thing

On Dec. 11th the Wells Corner Shopping Center held the first annual Ugly Fete Sweater Contest, with proceeds to benefit Goodwill Industries of Northern New England. The anyhow was lots of fun, with many contestants and some very “ugly” holiday sweaters. Thank you to all of the contestants, who were more than content to get their “ugly” on to benefit Goodwill, and to have a great time with all of us. Many people contributed to the big name of the event, but we want to give very special thanks to Nick, the new owner of the IGA Wells Super Grub Market, who contributed the grand prize, a 42-inch Plasma TV, which was won by Cameron Fadley of Dover-Foxcroft. Arrest’s generosity is amazing, and we hope that everyone in town will make a special effort to take place in and see him at his new store, and to “buy local.” We also want to thank WBLM for their fantastic, and at times indecent, support of our event; our wonderful panel of judges, Maine Party Pix, for providing the incriminating denote for the contestants; “Aer” for performing live at the event; Me & D’s Diner for complete cheerful support with anything and everything (please visit Mary Ann and “eat local” to show your appreciation for her efforts); Wells Wonderful Wash & Sherwin Williams for Scavenger Hunt support with prizes and supplies; and Maine Events by Pattern, without whom the event would never have happened. For all of the rest of you, now is the time to start thinking about picking up an “hideous holiday sweater” to enter next year. We hope you join us next December! With many thanks to all,
