Sharper, lighter big-screen TVs coming

LAS VEGAS — As always, last week’s Consumer Electronics Show, the life’s largest personal-technology confab, was filled with hundreds of new TVs.

There were so many announcements that it might be difficult to keep up with them if you’re looking to CES to aide you choose your next TV set.

A primer to help you cut through the noise:

OLED and 4K TVs: LG Electronics, the South Korean electronics-maker, unveiled a 55-inch OLED TV that is only 3/16 of an inch thick, and a enormous 84-inch TV with 4K-display resolution. What are OLED and 4K?
