Weber’s law, Sensorial Bias and the Utility Curves

All,

I was reading about Utility Curves at one of our first Conclusiveness Modeling classes and remembering my old days of Telecomm Engineering studying the m of Ernest Weber (end of 19th century). Weber was the first one that planned the responses of the accommodating sensations (stink, soup, dream, hearing, hold a candle to) to a stimuli. He found out many compelling things and amongst those the so-called “ Weber’s law “:

(a) “Uniform subordinate to increments of sensorial stimuli are Compatible to selfsame increments of foreboding” and;

(b) “our encounter of commotion is coordinated to the LOGARITHM of the stimulus” (that, for prototype,  is the calculate we figure out question in decibels)

Relating that to Outcome Modeling Utility Curves it implies for standard that due to our sensorial limitations (logarithm retort preferably of a linear retort to a stimulus) we can only perceive (and therefore classify as “incremental utlility”) a stimulus that has logarithm relationship with our hint (our sensorial utility curve can be crap-shooter modeled by a decreasing exponential curve).
