LG Launches PenTouch TV Stylus-Controlled Plasma HDTVs

LG is combining feel screens with big screens with the announcement of the new PenTouch TV line of plasma HDTVs. PenTouch TV screens let users interact with their HDTV like a against screen through a powered stylus. It's specifically designed to work with computers through the PenTouch software, included with the TV.

The PenTouch manner can be activated through a button on the HDTV's remote control, and lets users browse files on their PCs and interact with them. The PenTouch software offers picture tools on the TV, with support that lets the user both save and print their pictures through their PC. It offers slip show and digital frame functions to change how the pictures are displayed. A Family Calendar feature lets users list notes and make to-do lists for their family and themselves and leave them on the TV, effectively turning the screen into a notice board. The stylus will also interact with Internet content, presumably functioning like a mouse or touchpad.

Most HDTVs aren't designed to be regularly touched, but LG has added elements to figure out it safer for users to poke it with a stylus and to protect children to want to draw through the PenTouch software. The wall off itself is scratch-resistant, and its stand is more stable, according to LG.
